Every player who logs into Realms of Crossaria makes this pledge. You are not asked to sign it and there is no box to tick. Connecting to the server is the agreement, the same way stepping into a tavern means you will not set it on fire.
The rules in our terms of service say what gets you banned. This says what kind of player we are asking you to be. Both are enforced, but only one of them describes the server we actually want.
I will play the realms honestly, treat the people in them as people, and leave Crossaria better than I found it.
1.The eight vows
I
I will win by playing, not by cheating
No hacked clients, x-ray, autoclickers, or duping. If I find an exploit I will report it rather than farm it, because the fun of this server rests on everyone facing the same world I do.
II
I will keep the fight in the fight
Chaos is built for raiding, robbing and killing, and I will not apologise for doing any of it. What I will not do is carry it into chat as harassment, or into someone's real life in any form.
III
I will speak to players like people
No slurs, no hate, no sexual talk aimed at anyone, and nothing about a person's real identity that they did not offer. Losing a fight is not a reason to make someone's evening worse.
IV
I will not prey on new players
Spawn-camping the confused, scamming someone on their first day, or tricking a new player out of everything they own costs the server more than it gains me. I will point them at the road instead.
V
I will keep my word in trades and alliances
Chaos allows betrayal and always will. Outside of it, a deal I strike in chat is a deal I honour, because an economy nobody trusts is an economy nobody uses.
VI
I will respect what other people built
In Settlers, a claim is somebody's evening spent placing blocks one at a time. I will not grief it, wall it in, or build to spite it.
VII
I will bring the argument to staff, not to the server
If someone breaks the rules I will report it with what I saw and let staff handle it. I will not organise a pile-on, run a witch hunt in chat, or take enforcement into my own hands.
VIII
I will remember this is somebody’s hobby
The people who run this realm do it after work, without pay, and they will get things wrong sometimes. I can disagree with a decision without treating the person who made it as an enemy.
2.What we pledge back
Fair play cuts both ways. We will publish rule changes before we enforce them, explain a ban to the player it lands on, read every appeal, and never sell an advantage that breaks the game for the people who did not buy it. Staff are held to these vows harder than players are, not more loosely.
3.When the pledge is broken
Most of this is not enforced with a ban hammer. Refusing to help a new player is not a punishable offence and never will be. Cheating, harassment and griefing are, and they are handled under the server rules in our terms of service, which is the document with teeth.
Think of the pledge as the standard we hold each other to before anything needs enforcing at all. A server where people follow it is a server that does not need much moderation, and that is the whole point.
